Looking back a year at Covid

march of last year covid was declared a pandemic that would take hundreds of millions of lives world wide.. here are the facts after a year.. the world population is 7,800,000,000 (billions).

114,770,269 millions of people have caught the virus as of today.

aprox 91 million recovered from the virus,.

this site was and remains instrumental in assisting people that want to leave the jw's.. there has been political discussion here for some time now, a good couple of years and it makes me feel a little uneasy.

i just opened up the site for the first time in some weeks, of the 10 posts being discussed, 4 were by the same poster, about politics, promoting their right wing beliefs.. this has been the trend for some time now, the same name behind a peppering of posts stirring the right v left of politics.. i remain forever grateful to the site and it's founders simon & angharad, i appreciate that simon shares some of these these political beliefs.

it would be a shame to see the site evolve from a place for jw freedom of thought and escape, to political squabbling, that the world is frankly tired of right now.. just to clarify, politics is my hobby, whilst my friends read the football scores, i'm reading polling data.

I wonder if this is why a number of the more erudite and useful contributors have left over the last 3 or 4 years ?

i wonder where they have gone ? Cant be redditt surely ?

and that other xjw site closed suddenly in recent years.

What JW Subjects Interest You The Most On This Site? What Doesn’t??

i like subjects that delve into the history of the religion and proofs that the witnesses are not the true religion.

i’m not so much into apologists saying we need to go to meetings, especially if the poster looks like a scammer trying to get ex jws going.

Anyone here take any chance you get to tell others how dangers the cult is?

i know i have made some uncomfortable at times and others have thanked me for telling them about the cult because some family member is one and they thought it was a bad cult but did not know details.

personally i take every chance i get to tell others about the cult.

the fact is--most JW's are nice people ( well--outwardly ), they genuinely believe in what they have known from their childhood. Its only when one tries to leave they find out just what a screwed up mess the cult really is. That's the message i try to get across to anyone who might be curious.

i do. Facebook community groups the subject of JW's comes up sometimes..i pull no punches. Well meaning sorts sometimes comment saying what nice people JW's are...
